Kyle Busch is a two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion. He’s recorded 63 Cup wins in his distinguished career, which is now in its 23rd season and includes 723 races. He’s unquestionably a future first-ballot Hall of Famer. With so many achievements and all of his years of experience, you’d think NASCAR officials would be open to listening to the driver if he had any suggestions.

On Saturday at Talladega while meeting with reporters, the Richard Childress Racing driver, once again, brought up how his advice has fallen on deaf ears when asked about the Gen 7 car and how it performs and feels on superspeedways like Talladega.

“It drives OK,” Busch said. “Ever since they came up with the rear end rules that keep the tires on the racetrack and the teams aren’t going crazy on different setup things to try to get the back of the car down, it seems to drive fine.

“It’s just the cadence of the race isn’t very good. That’s not very fun. It’s really hard to get runs or any sort of separation, especially with the fuel savings and all that sort of stuff. Shorter time on pit road is how you pass guys. Like that’s no fun. So there’s definitely an issue in that. I’ve made my suggestions and in one ear, out the other.”

Interestingly, that’s not the first time in 2025 the driver has been candid about officials ignoring what he has to say. In March at Circuit of the Americas, the 39-year-old was asked about a new Playoff Committee, which was created to discuss ideas about potential changes to the playoff format for the 2026 season. Members include representatives from NASCAR, its broadcast partners, and multiple drivers — both current and past, including Hall of Famers.

“Yeah, I guess there’s five or six or eight or ten — I don’t even know how many committees there are, but nobody calls me to be on any of them,” Busch suggested. ”So, I feel real honored with that and look forward to hearing what their changes are.”

Busch and the Cup Series return to action on Sunday at Talladega. Race coverage begins at 3 p.m. ET on Fox.
