WILLMAR — The top five teams remained unshook at Day 2 of the Cardinal/Wildcat Invite.
Brainerd, which led Day 1 in Spicer, edged New London-Spicer with a two-day total of 598 on Friday at Eagle Creek Golf Club. The Wildcats finished at 607, followed by Lakeville South’s 628, Willmar’s 641 and Morris/Chokio-Alberta’s 649. The top five teams did not shift after Day 1.
Of the 16-team invitational, here is how other area teams fared: Lac qui Parle Valley (6th, 660), Dawson-Boyd (7th, 663), Minnewaska (8th, 669), Central Minnesota Christian School (10th, 700), Litchfield (12th, 730), Benson (13th, 734), Community Christian School (14th, 753) and Montevideo (tied for 15th, 762). Litchfield was in a tie for 15th place after Day 1.

Brainerd secured a first-place finish behind three of its four scoring golfers placing in the top six.
Alex Imgrund carded a 147 to take fourth ahead of teammates Brady Oseland and Tyler Lehmann, who shot 148 and 149 to place fifth and sixth.
NLS had all four of its scoring golfers appear in the top 15, including one in the top 3. Gabe Truscinski secured second at 144. Max Truscinski tied for eighth after shooting a 152 along with Willmar’s Aden Jacobson. Palmer Dalton placed 10th following a 153 and Blake Kath recorded a 159 to tie for 15th with Lakeville South’s Oliver Theel and Brainerd’s Jack Hagberg.

Jacobson was not the only sophomore to fare well for the Cardinals. Luke Larson posted a 155 to finish in a tie for 11th with Lakeville South’s Barret Vonruden and Zach Havron.
Carson Besonen shined for LQPV, carding a 146 to take third place. He rounded out the area golfers in the top 10 with Minnewaska’s Thatcher Sherlin, who shot a 151 to finish in seventh.

Sherlin was key for the Lakers, as was Zach Gugisberg, who placed 14th with a 158.
Morris/CA’s Charlie Hanson earned medalist honors. He carded a winning one-under-par 143.

It was a strong day for Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City in the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Invitational at Prairie View Community Golf Course in Brooten.
ACGC’s boys took first place with a meet-low 167, edging BBE’s 171 and Paynesville’s 172.
Austin Quale earned medalist honors with a 37 for the Falcons, who saw golfer Brooke Brekke tie for first place with Paynesville’s Peyton Roeske in the girls division. Both carded 38s.
Roeske’s effort helped Paynesville’s girls win at 147, followed by Osakis’ 172 and Kimball’s 192.
Other area boys golfers who placed in the top 5 were: Paynesville’s Isaac Christensen (tied for 2nd; 39), the Jaguars’ Owen Roering and ACGC’s Bode Brekke (tied for fifth; 41).

Paynesville’s boys had its four scoring golfers in the top five en route to victory as its girls also won and were led by Peyton Roeske in the Osakis Invitational at Osakis Country Club.
The Bulldogs, led by Isaac Christensen with a first-place score of 38, totaled a meet-low 166, followed by Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City’s 179 and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa’s 188.
Bode Brekke paced the Falcons with a 41 to take second place. Then, it was Paynesville’s Zane Johnson, who carded a 42 to place third, and Joe Kotten and Dylan Christensen, who each shot 43s to earn shares of fifth place.
Roeske shot a 43 to tie for second place with Kimball’s Paige Kneip. Her effort helped the Bulldogs score a 222, which beat Osakis’ 232.
Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City’s Brooke Brekke secured medalist honors at 39.

Hutchinson’s Ellie Schweim was first and Addison Longie second in leading the Tigers to victory at the Hutchinson Invitational at Crow River Golf Club.
Schweim earned medalist honors with a 79 and Longie trailed with an 82. Those scores helped the Tigers finish with an invite-low 365. That was ahead of Marshall’s 386 and Delano’s 395.
Litchfield placed fourth (424) and BOLD was fifth (433). The Warriors’ Layla Pfarr and Kyleigh Snow were the only area golfers who appeared in the top 10.
Pfarr shot a 96 to take eighth place, as Snow carded a 101 to place 10th overall.

Renville County West’s Ryan Schrupp took home medalist honors with a 76 as Sauk Centre was victorious in the BOLD Invitational at Olivia Golf Club.
Sauk Centre, which had its four scoring golfers all in the top 6, totaled 343. Renville County West came in at 393 as BOLD finished with a 394.
BOLD’s Brock Beckler appeared in the top 5. He shot an 83 to finish in third place.
