Last November, Olympique Lyonnais faced financial challenges after coming under scrutiny from the DNCG (Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion). However, a January fire sale seems unlikely.

While Lyon need to move players to ease its financial troubles, the club is holding out for reasonable offers. The looming threat of relegation only adds urgency to finding a solution.

Rayan Cherki is among those who could leave in the next transfer window, although likely for less than his market value. His contract extension in September, which runs for another two years, gives Lyon some leverage.

A key question remains: Given the strained relationship between OL owner John Textor and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, would Lyon be willing to sell to PSG?

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey reports that Manchester United is one of the English clubs monitoring Rayan Cherki’s situation. Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United are all also interested in the Lyon standout.

Moreover, Bayern Munich and PSG have reportedly renewed their interest in Cherki due to his strong form, with both European giants potentially entering the race this summer.

Chelsea were once the leading contenders for Cherki in England, but with the arrivals of Cole Palmer, Kendry Paez, and Estevao, their interest has waned, though they still recognize his talent.

The report notes that Cherki has an agreement with Lyon will allow him to move on for less than £25 million this summer.
