Josh Berry is looking for a new NASCAR organization for the 2027 season. After Wood Brothers Racing revealed that Berry would not return to the No. 21 car, it leaves him seeking a new ride in NASCAR. There are plenty of options, but the lack of sponsorship might be his biggest obstacle moving forward.
So, which teams would be realistic destinations? Below we dive into the five best NASCAR landing spots for Berry in 2027.

Front Row Motorsports would be a great option for Berry. The current Wood Brothers Racing driver would likely replace Noah Gragson while staying in the NASCAR Cup Series. If Berry wants to stay with Ford in the Cup Series, Front Row Motorsports is his only realistic option. Plus, the organization has been running better lately.
Kaulig Racing

Kaulig Racing might be more sponsorship-dependent for Berry; however, this is another good landing spot. It depends on whether Berry wants to stay in the Cup Series, as there likely won’t be many rides available moving forward. Kaulig Racing wouldn’t be a top team, but it gives Berry a chance to stay at NASCAR’s top level.

JR Motorsports, NASCAR O’Reilly Series

JR Motorsports is the most obvious landing spot for Berry moving forward. Even though JR Motorsports is in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series, Berry would return to his winning ways with a strong organization. If Berry’s focus isn’t directly on the Cup Series, JR Motorsports would be a realistic outcome.
Richard Childress Racing
NASCAR Cup Series driver Austin Hill (33) races during the Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tenn., Sunday, May 31, 2026.
If it is not Front Row Motorsports, Kaulig Racing, or JR Motorsports, there aren’t many more obvious landing spots. Therefore, what if Richard Childress Racing wants to take a shot on Berry? If the driver of the No. 21 car impresses this summer, his stock could grow. Berry would likely drive the No. 33 car in this scenario.

The same thing goes for Spire Motorsports. What if Michael McDowell doesn’t return to the No. 71 car in 2027? Berry could have a similar career resurgence that Daniel Suarez experienced this season. Spire Motorsports and Richard Childress Racing are long shots, but they would be great landing spots for Berry.
