The 49ers made their two Wednesday signings official, which also means they had to make a pair of corresponding roster moves.
In announcing the club had officially added receiver KhaDarel Hodge and defensive lineman Ogbo Okoronkwo to one-year deals, the club also noted veteran defensive linemen Kevin Givens and Cameron Sample have been released.

Givens, 29, has been with the 49ers since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He’s appeared in 70 career games for the franchise, tallying 8.0 sacks with 18 tackles for loss and 18 quarterback hits. He played five games last year, registering two total tackles.
Sample joined the 49ers in April on a one-year deal after spending his first five seasons with the Bengals. In 2025, he tallied 17 total tackles with 2.0 sacks, two TFLs, and six QB hits in 14 games with two starts.
San Francisco’s first preseason game will take place next Thursday against Tennessee in Santa Clara.
