“Today, he lost his one-on-one matchup against Jack Jones, who broke up the pass when Stribling was running deep. After that rep, Shanahan called Stribling over to him and gave him some coaching points. Whatever Shanahan said worked, because Stribling went on to dominate practice with one healthy shoulder.….. [CMC] practiced for the second day in a row and looked perfectly healthy. Caught three passes and carried the ball many times. I believe McCaffrey when he says he wasn’t injured and the 49ers simply agreed to let him skip two weeks of camp.”

“Of course, quarterback Brock Purdy and linebacker Fred Warner were the 49ers’ top players during their 4 1/2 weeks of work at their practice facility this summer.

But a couple of other 49ers made their bids for Camp MVP, too, notably wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling and defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa.
Both Stribling and Odighizuwa had impressive showings on the practice field Tuesday, as well as all camp long.”

“James Thompson II was everywhere today. He had a handful of run stops, and was really impressive in 1-on-1s….Carver Willis got demolished in 1-on-1s by West and Bryson Eason. He also lost to Sebastian Valdez. He looks shaky. Better in 11-on-11s, but still not good…Luke Farrell had 2 touchdown grabs in the red zone period with Brock Purdy dotting it up today. Purdy looked phenomenal. Jake Tonges was seemingly blanketed on almost rep today, with at least three balls going his way that ended in PBUs. He came down with another one.”

“Yeah, I got to talk to Jed the last two days and today. Obviously, it’s a very tough situation. I mean, views for the organization going forward is the same as usual. There won’t be any difference in that, but I know it’s extremely fresh. I think it’s a very, very personal situation. I’ve got a lot of respect for Jed. I got a lot of respect for Danielle [York]. Their family does mean a lot to me. So, with it being this personal, I’m trying as hard as I can to keep it that way.”

What was your message to the guys today?
“I don’t need much of a message to the guys. I think that’s kind of irrelevant to our guys.”
49ers injury updates: Week 1 takes precedence over the preseason
“49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said the team isn’t expecting left guard Robert Jones to return until “around Australia.” The team is hopeful Jones can return to practice before they leave the States.
That would mean Jones returns this upcoming weekend and can participate in the three sessions before the 49ers fly to Australia on Wednesday, September 2.
Kurtis Rourke won’t play this Thursday as he recovers from a rib injury. Shanahan said Rourke’s injury wasn’t as bad as the one Jordan James suffered. Rourke had three broken ribs. He’ll still miss the preseason finale, but will return to practice next weekend, according to Shanahan.”

“And indications that York recently moved away from the Bay Area back to the Youngstown, Ohio, area where he grew up could have the biggest ramifications of all.
But for the here and now — and for Melbourne, Australia, against the Rams on Sept. 10 — the York headlines, questions, and think pieces are, in Kyle Shanahan’s words on Tuesday, “kind of irrelevant to our guys.”
That was definitely a bit of a swat-away for an uncomfortable topic by a coach who has many other things on his plate; but Shanahan was also not incorrect.
York set this up a long time ago — Shanahan and John Lynch run every aspect of the football side, obviously with some financial and philosophical oversight from York, but not that much….And part of the reason Lynch and Shanahan know they can operate freely and without worrying about getting overruled or second-guessed is that they have such a direct relationship with York.

If York recedes into the Ohio shadows, that is, on one hand, the dream scenario for a coach and GM, who could essentially be acting as dual owners.
But also, if York isn’t there to hear all of their deliberations, if he doesn’t chime in a time or two to help get to a conclusion, he might feel a little disassociated from Shanahan and Lynch. The deep ties could get tested.
It’s also a step closer to the York family as a whole feeling more distant from everybody else — which could lead to possibly considering a huge offer to sell the team; until now, I believe it’s been Jed York’s passion and financial success that’s eliminated any cash-out consideration.”
