Another PGA Tour sponsor has signed a long-term extension.
A week after Valspar signed an agreement through the 2030 season, 3M has done the same for its event at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota. 3M has sponsored the event since its inception in 2019, and that will continue, the PGA Tour announced Monday. The extension runs through 2030.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with 3M and a passionate Minnesota fan base that supports every sport in every season, including the 3M Open from day one,” PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said in a release. “That same passion from 3M is on display each summer as they invest in their community and positively impact lives through the 3M Open.”
Added 3M CEO Bill Brown: “The 3M Open is more than a golf tournament — it’s a force for good that brings people together around 3M innovation and supporting Minnesota communities. Our title sponsorship and partnership with PGA TOUR showcases 3M Science for some of our most valued customers and partners while improving lives in our own backyard, and we look forward to continuing the 3M Open for years to come.”
Arnold Palmer designed TPC Twin Cities, which will host the PGA Tour’s penultimate regular-season event for the third straight year.
The 2025 3M Open will be held July 24-27. Jhonattan Vegas is expected to defend his title.
The deal is significant as some sponsors of PGA Tour events had been holding out on signing extensions as unification talks with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund continue. Some, like Wells Fargo and Honda, have left in recent years while others, such as RBC which sponsors the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links as well as the Canadian Open, have committed to one-year deals. AT&T and RBC have not signed extensions to sponsor PGA Tour events in 2026, per Sports Business Journal’s Josh Carpenter.
Two weeks ago, President Donald Trump met with commissioner Jay Monahan, Tiger Woods, Adam Scott and LIV Golf chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan at the White House to discuss unification, talks the PGA Tour called a “constructive working session.”
The PGA Tour’s Florida Swing continues this week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
