You didn’t think one of the most dramatic, explosive events on the sports calendar was ever going to get any cheaper, did you? After its spectacular run at Bethpage Black last fall, the Ryder Cup heads to Adare Manor in Ireland next year, and ticket prices are set to be the most expensive ever for a European installment of the biannual event.

Daily tickets for the 2027 Ryder Cup go on sale Friday for Irish fans, and they’ll need to dig deep: at a cost of €499 (about $585) apiece, they’ll require a real commitment. That number is about twice the cost of tickets to Rome 2023, and a testament to exactly what a coveted event the Ryder Cup has become. Organizers are expecting somewhere in the neighborhood of 250,000 fans on-site at Adare for the entire week.

Prices for the Tuesday-Wednesday practice days will be much cheaper, starting at “only” €89, with the Thursday opening ceremony tickets starting at €179. Children will be able to attend the practice days for as little as €20, where they can learn the art of European cheering from their elders, to be deployed at Ryder Cups for decades to come.

At least the Adare Manor tickets are likely to be a better investment for the locals than the Bethpage Black tickets, which cost American fans $750 apiece to watch two days of a largely listless, uninspired American team. (The Americans finally found their spine on Day 3, making a go of it before losing 15-13.)

The initial window is only for Irish fans, and organizers have indicated they hope that as much as a third of the tickets will go to buyers in Ireland. The worldwide ticket window will open in June.

The Ryder Cup will take place Sept. 17-19, 2027 in Ireland.
