Native Texan Patrick Mahomes will make his first Thanksgiving Day start against the Dallas Cowboys this season — and barring injury, the Chiefs will be favored.
Kansas City opened as a 4.5-point favorite against host Dallas at sportsbooks Wednesday, with a total of 47.5. The Chiefs were favored in 14 of the 16 regular-season games last season that Mahomes started.

Kansas City went 15-2 last season and earned the No. 1 seed in the AFC postseason, beating the Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills en route to its third consecutive Super Bowl appearance. However, Kansas City failed in its quest for a three-peat, losing 40-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.
The Chiefs are one of four teams — the Bills, Eagles and Baltimore Ravens are the others — tied with the NFL’s highest win total at 11.5 at BetMGM, and Kansas City is favored to win the AFC West again.
The Cowboys, on the other hand, have an over/under of 7.5 and currently have only the third-best odds (+700) to win the NFC East, behind the Washington Commanders (+225) and Philadelphia Eagles (-150).
The Chiefs (+750) are tied with the Bills for the third-best Super Bowl odds at BetMGM, behind the Eagles (+650) and Ravens (+700).
