Ahead of Friday’s World Series Game 1 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays, the umpire crew has been revealed.
MLB announced on Thursday that Mark Wegner will serve as the World Series umpire crew chief. He will be joined by Jordan Baker, Adam Hamari, Adrian Johnson, Will Little, Alan Porter and John Tumpane.
According to the Associated Press, this is the first time Wegner has been tabbed as the crew chief for the Fall Classic in his career, which began in 1998. The 53-year-old also worked the World Series in 2013 and 2017, the latter of which saw the Dodgers lose to the Houston Astros in seven games. He was behind the plate for that Game 7.
Porter worked the World Series in 2019 and 2022, and Baker worked it in 2022. Hamari, Johnson, Little and Tumpane will be making their World Series debuts.
Little will be behind the plate for Friday’s Game 1 in Toronto. Wegner will be at first base, Tumpane at second, Porter at third, Hamari in left left, Baker in right and Johnson the reserve.
