Last night’s game notes

Saint John (3) – Gatineau (2) – OT

The Saint John Sea Dogs take down the Olympiques in OT thanks to a goal from Flyers prospect defenseman Matteo Mann — his second of the year. The Sea Dogs also received goals from Capitals prospect left winger Eriks Mateiko (seventh of the season) and 2025 NHL Draft eligible centerman Zachary Morin (10 points over eight games). A big reason for their win was the strong play from goaltender Charles-Edward Gravel, stopping 30/32.

As for the Olympiques, 2024 12th overall pick Maxim Dube (C) scored his first career QMJHL goal.

Rouyn-Noranda (2) – Val-d’Or (1)

The Huskies take down Val-d’Or thanks to a two point performance from 2026 NHL Draft prospect right winger Lars Steiner. He’s up to an astounding 22 points (7+15) over his first 22 games. Meanwhile, 2025 NHL Draft notable right winger Bill Zonnon added an assist, bringing his season totals to 19 points (6+13) over 14.

Despite stopping an impressive 37 of 39 shots, Cedric Masse couldn’t keep the Foreurs afloat. 2025 NHL Draft eligible left winger Philippe Veilleux scored the team’s sole goal with less than a minute to go in the game.

Drummondville (5) – Blainville-Boisbriand (2)

After scoring his first of the season last game, Volts captain C Luke Woodworth added two more tonight in their stomping of the Armada. Fellow overage centerman Sam Oliver added three assists. However a big part of why the game was out of reach for the Armada was thanks to Riley Mercer’s 42 save performance. He still remains atop the league’s leaderboard in save percentage, boasting a ludicrous .948 across 10 games.

As for Armada, there are some positives. Top prospect right winger Justin Carbonneau added two assists, bringing his totals to 19 points (8+11) over 13 games. 2026 NHL Draft prospect defenseman Xavier Villeneuve added an assist, keeping him just above the point-a-game rate with 14 (2+12) over 13 games. Finally, overage left winger Jonathan Fauchon’s goal tonight keeps him above the goal-per-game rate with 14 goals and 9 assists for 23 points over 13 games.

Arguably the most tragic aspect of this game was that it drew only 1113 fans — the second lowest attendance figures of the season.

Sherbrooke (6) – Halifax (1)

The Sherbrooke Phoenix absolutely steamrolled the Mooseheads in this one, lapping them in shots 48-18. Left winger Olivier Dubois had the best performance on the team as it’s sole multi-goal scorer with two. Additionally, defenseman Justin Lemay scored his first of the season.

The Mooseheads were just too little, too late; only scoring with less than four minutes on the board.

This game also happened to have the highest attendance of the night with 3093 fans in the stands in Sherbrooke.

Quebec (5) – Baie-Comeau (8)

It’s not often you see a 13 goal game conclude with two empty netters., but last night we witnessed just that as Baie-Comeau beat Quebec 8-3. Draft re-entry candidate LW Louis-Charles Plourde (2+2), Devils prospect centerman Matyas Melovsky (2+2) and Hurricanes prospect right winger Justin Poirier (1+3) both had four point nights. Seattle Kraken defensive prospect Alexis Bernier had a stellar night as well with a goal and an assist, while maintaining a +6. Baie-Comeau also saw 2025 NHL Draft prospect centerman Jabez Seymour and import defenseman Oliver Samson score their first goals of the season.

Meanwhile, Quebec saw standout games from Blues prospect RW Antoine Dorion (1+1), 2025 NHL Draft eligible centerman Nathan Quinn (1+1) and newly acquired overage right winger Thomas Auger (2+1). Additionally, 2025 NHL Draft eligible right winger Andreas Straka scored a lacrosse goal.

Moncton (5) – Victoriaville (3)

Despite efforts from the Tigres to claw their way back into the game, the Wildcats come out as the victors thanks to a hot start and bouncing back from giving up goals. The Wildcats had a few multi-point players: Flames defensive prospect Etienne Morin (0+2), 2025 NHL Draft eligible centerman Caleb Desnoyers (1+1) and overage left winger Yoan Loshing (1+1). The game also saw first goals from prospect defensemen Loke Johansson of the Bruins (first QMJHL goal) and Dylan MacKinnon (first goal of the season and with Wildcats) of the Predators. In net, Keegan Warren stopped 35/38 including a beautiful sprawling cross-crease save.

After a low-event first period for the Tigres, Victoriaville started to get going in the second and third periods — eventually overtaking the Wildcats in shots 38-36. 2025 NHL draft eligible defenseman Maddox Labre (0+2) and overage winger Olivier Houde (1+1) were the team’s only multi-point players. Additionally, defenseman Mathis Aguilar scored his first goal of the season.

Three Stars of the Night

  1. C Matyas Melovsky (BAC) – 2 goals, 2 assists, +5

  2. G Riley Mercer (DRU) – 42/44, .954 save percentage

  3. D Alexis Bernier (BAC) – 1 goal, 2 assists, +6
