If there’s one German club that’s currently making waves in the transfer market, it’s Bayer Leverkusen. The Werkself not only has to cope with numerous departures, but is also making significant purchases. Now, the next deal has been sealed.
The club just announced that Eliesse Ben Seghir from Monaco is joining. The left winger has signed a contract until 2030.
As reported by ‘kicker’ among others, the transfer fee is said to be 32 million euros plus three million euros in bonuses.
In 33 Ligue-1 games last season, Ben Seghir contributed six goals and three assists. He also scored twice in ten Champions League games. Both goals were against Benfica – one of Leverkusen’s upcoming opponents in the Champions League. However, it is not yet entirely clear whether he will be used by Erik ten Hag.
According to reports from ‘kicker’ and ‘Bild’, his new coach is on the verge of being dismissed from Leverkusen. After the opening defeat against TSG Hoffenheim and the 3:3 draw against ten players from Werder, the Dutchman’s position is reportedly shaky. According to reports, the Bayer bosses want to discuss the future of the 55-year-old intensively after the end of the summer transfer window tomorrow.
