Borussia Dortmund is playing at neighboring Rot-Weiß Essen in the cup today. Quite obviously, BVB thought of something right from the start, but that went completely wrong.
The formation at the kick-off already hinted at something special. Only the three central defenders stayed back, the remaining outfield players lined up at the midfield line.
Serhou Guirassy then took the kick-off – and suddenly shot the ball just a few meters away from him into the sideline. Inexperienced EA FC players might know this when they mix up the buttons for flanking and passing.
That was certainly not planned. A method often used nowadays at the beginning is to hit a long ball at the opponent’s full-back to trigger a pressing situation directly. But if the ball lands in the sideline at the level of the center circle, that’s not going to work.
