All the pre-season expectations have so far been met by Dusan Vlahovic at the start of this season with Juventus.
Despite having a contract that is almost impossible to renew, the Serbian striker chose to stay with the Bianconeri and made an impact with two goals as a substitute in the first two Serie A matches.
After his decisive goal against Genoa, the player repeated himself yesterday with the Serbian national team, scoring the 1-0 against Latvia with a left-footed shot from the edge of the box of remarkable quality.
The statistics at the moment speak of a relentless striker. In the 38 minutes played with Juventus, he has shot on target twice with a 100% conversion rate. With 0.66 expected goals, he has actually found the net twice. On one hand, itās an overperformance, but on the other, it also seems like a sign of maturity. With renewed focus and calm, the 25-year-oldās qualities are emerging like never before.
With the most expensive player in the squad (letās not forget his ā¬12 million salary) in this psychological and physical condition, one wonders if Igor Tudor can really continue to see him as a Super Sub or if itās necessary to rethink the teamās setup.
Jonathan David remains the big signing, the cornerstone around which to build the attacking department not just for the present but also for years to come. The same goes for Kenan Yildiz, a constant source of light and inspiration for the teamās play and absolutely indispensable. The only scenario for Vlahovic to become a permanent starter is his coexistence with both of them.
Igor Tudor had already shown himself open to the idea in the pre-Genoa press conference, and then came Davidās own words to SportMediaset from the Canada camp.Ā “Playing together with Vlahovic in a two-man attack, I think itās possible. Itās up to the coach to decide, but I would have no problem playing with him.”
One wonders if and when this option will become reality. The home Derby dāItalia against Inter is tempting, but with only a few days of training due to the break, itās even more unlikely to be implemented. However, Juventusā abundance could become a precious resource to return to competing at the top. The resurgence of Vlahovic changes many perspectives.
