The first half of Fluminense vs. Vasco this Saturday (5) in the Brasileirão had more confusion than good football.

There were plenty of cards for heavier challenges, altercations involving people who weren’t even on the pitch, and lots of complaints.

And one of the main figures was referee Davi de Oliveira Lacerda from Espírito Santo, who had an unusual moment with Canobbio.

More fighting than good football…

Vasco had total control of the action for much of the first half. 

They faced a Fluminense side that kept making mistakes whenever it tried to move up the field and attack.

But Vasco was also poor when it came to finishing. They applied pressure, but couldn’t make it count. 

The derby, already known for its tense history, kept getting even hotter as the minutes passed. 

Including two altercations involving players on the bench.
