Flamengo beat São Paulo 2-0, at the Maracanã, this Saturday (12), and remained isolated at the top of the 2025 Brazilian Championship.

But the atmosphere is not good at all around the Urubu’s Nest.

In the press conference after the victory, coach Filipe Luís spoke about leaving Pedro out of the squad for the match against Tricolor Paulista.

Normally very calm, the red-black coach raised his tone, spoke of “lack of respect” and that the center-forward had an attitude that “bordered on lamentable”.

“What happened is that Pedro’s attitude this week bordered on the lamentable. It was ridiculous. It’s not new that he’s been training badly, but this week he broke the principle of training culture. What he did was a lack of respect. This kind of behavior can be contagious and that’s why he was left out of the squad. I hope he apologizes to his teammates”.

Furthermore, Filipe Luís stated that Pedro has been training poorly and is the last in all the data pointed out by the GPS.

“My eye tells me, but we have GPS data that says Pedro is last in absolutely everything this week. A player who is last in all physical skills, which is intensity, acceleration, and deceleration, cannot perform. They can blame the coach, Arrascaeta, but the blame is his”.

Last Wednesday (9), Pedro alleged “heavy legs” and did not finish the training session. His teammates did not like the attitude and went to complain to Filipe Luís and the Flamengo management.

The center-forward defended himself, claiming he was not feeling well and preferred to preserve himself.

Thursday’s (10) training session was normal, but Pedro was informed on Friday (11) that he was cut from the collective activity and would not go to the game against São Paulo.

Out of the substitutes’ bench, Pedro went to the Maracanã to watch the match at the stadium.
