There may be trouble brewing in South Florida after Lionel Messi and Inter Miami were ruthlessly dispatched on the road during a heavy 4-1 loss against Minnesota United.
The Loons, who have been impressive across the 2025 MLS coming into the weekend, did not back down against Javier Mascherano’s star power, scoring twice on either side of the halftime interval.

Despite Messi bagging a goal to make it 2-1 while offering a temporary moment of reprieve, there would be no comeback on the cards, with Inter Miami going on to suffer their heaviest defeat in club history while Messi has been on the pitch.
As rumblings have begun to bubble to the surface that Messi has grown frustrated with teammates at Chase Stadium, questions are sure to come surrounding whether or not this was a one-off result, or if the wheels may fall off the Inter Miami bus moving forward across a 2025 season filled with greater expectations.
