Without Maximiliano Salas or Sebastián Driussi, the Colombian striker is expected to start against San Martín de Tucumán in the Copa Argentina.
River Plate faces a tough pending challenge: taking on San Martín de Tucumán in the Round of 32 of the Copa Argentina. With both Maximiliano Salas and Sebastián Driussi out injured, Colombian Miguel Borja is expected to start up front.
Marcelo Gallardo will have to decide who will make up the starting eleven, and all signs point to the 32-year-old Colombian striker, who had offers to leave this transfer window, starting the match.
Driussi suffered a serious injury in the FIFA Club World Cup and is recovering from a severe sprain of the internal ligament in his left ankle. Meanwhile, Maxi Salas will be out for about three weeks due to a distal sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee.
Miguel Borja, who last Sunday replaced Salas but did not have a great performance against San Lorenzo, will have a chance to redeem himself in the match against San Martín de Tucumán.
Gallardo may rotate some players. It is possible that Facundo Colidio will be replaced by Ian Subiabre, while Juan Cruz Meza is another young player who has a chance to start.
River will look to defeat San Martín de Tucumán this Saturday at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero to advance to the Round of 16 of the Copa Argentina.
